When To Book Flights To Get Best Rates

The Best Time to Book Your Flightsairplane

The best time to book your flights is early Wednesday morning, just after midnight. Why? That’s because if there is a chance you can get a cheaper airfare, that’s the time it most likely happens.

It all has to do with fare wars. Smaller airlines tend to start the wars on Fridays. But the big airlines tend to raise their rates late Friday nights. If only one or two big airlines raise their rates but their competitors don’t, then fares are dropped back down on Monday. By Tuesday, if an airfare war is to take place, that’s when it happens. Fares could go down even further on Wednesday, and that’s when you make your reservation, because the fare wars usually end by early Thursday morning.

The best time to book is at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday. That’s because at around midnight the airlines usually reload their computers with the lowest announced fares from the previous day. However, these low cost fares will be canceled if not purchased within 24 hours, so to be sure you get the flight you want, book early Wednesday morning.

This is one of those times it actually pays to be a night owl.

Welcome!
